LOWC booth at the Farmers Market:
Having a booth at the LO Farmer's Market allows the Women's Club to:

  • Promote our upcoming events - Fashion Show!
  • Promote our club by answering questions and encouraging membership
  • Follow-up with people about past events - pick up of Lake Run T-shirts, medals, etc.
  • Remind the community of our mission - who we are and what we do!
We have a few volunteer slots left for the May 28th date at the farmer's market.  The shifts are from 7:30 am - 10:30 am and/or 10:00 am to 1:30 pm.  Please contact Lisa if you are interested in working a shift with other LOWC ladies!  This is fun/easy work and there is generally enough time for you to sneak a little market shopping in too!!

Check out the photo (and the beautiful Fashion Show poster!) of a few members at the last Farmer's Market opportunity.

CASA Shopping/Fundraising event:

CASA has been a recipient of LOWC funds for several years and they are having a fun/social/shopping event that will help them do some additional fundraising.  If you'd like to visit a private/secret home in Lake Oswego for their special event, there will be several vendors there, along with light appetizers.  Gather a couple of your LOWC friends and RSVP to Minita!  See the photo to the left for more details!

Volunteer Opportunities:
1) William Temple House:
One of the philanthropy organizations that LOWC has supported off and on for many years (William Temple House) is having a fundraising event on Saturday, May 21st from noon until 3:30 pm.  They are looking for 7 volunteers to help with things like registration and food & beverage.  If you (or you and a friend) are interested in helping with this fundraiser, please contact Lisa and we'll get more information to you and possibly coordinate a carpool.

2) Ice Cream Party:
Need 3-4 volunteers to help serve ice cream to Lake Run School Challenge winners 36 Lakeridge Junior High students at 2 pm Thursday May 19th.  Please email Lisa if you are interested in helping coordinate and/or serve these kiddos!

LOWC Quorum Meeting:
The Quorum Meeting is the LOWC's most important meeting of the year.  We hope to see all of you there!  The meeting will take place on May 22nd at 2:00 pm at the Oswego Pointe Condos (5065 Foothills Rd, Lake Oswego, OR 97034 - in the Riverside Room).  Here are just some of the things that will be happening for this meeting:
  • We will vote our "provisional" members in to "Active" status
  • We will vote on how the payouts will happen for our charities for the 2016 fiscal year
  • We will vote on our board for 2016 / 2017
  • We will provide semi-final net profit information for the Lake Run and our 2015-2016 year as a whole
We hope you will all plan to join us, as we need a quorum for our voting to be valid!  Drinks and light snacks will be provided.

We also encourage you to stop by any of our fabulous sponsor businesses (see below) and let them know that we are thrilled to have them participate in our 40th Anniversary event and thank them for their sponsorship.

RAISE THE PADDLE FOR

SAINT CHILD

As we get underway with the planning of our 2016 Fashion Show, we are honored to be able to partner with Saint Child, a local community home for pregnant young women, ages 14-24. Saint Child fills a unique void in our community by offering a safe, stable and nurturing home for young women in need of support to overcome significant challenges and obstacles that have been placed in their lives due to domestic violence, sex trafficking, homelessness, child abuse and neglect. Their primary goal is to build a strong ‘scaffolding’ of support through a program that models and teaches the necessary skills and knowledge required to transition to independent living, and for a future where the young women and their children will continue to succeed and thrive.

It is through the support and generosity of the community that makes this program possible. There will be an auction-style paddle raise at the Fashion Show to benefit the young mothers of Saint Child and their infants.   All other proceeds from the event will benefit several other charities in and around Portland. To learn more, visit their website, Saint Child

It was previously stated that all Past Presidents would be honored at our next general meeting on May 22nd.  My apologies but all Past Presidents will be recognized at the LOWC Fashion Show Luncheon on October 7th.  You will be receiving further information as the date gets closer.
