Summer is here!

A note from your outgoing president...

I don't know where to begin to thank everyone.  You all have made the past two years so rewarding and such a wonderful experience for me.  I am so proud of this fine organization and the wonderful women that make up the membership.  I have been blessed to be a part of it all.  I am excited to see where we go from here - and so excited for our new board with Lisa taking over at the helm!  There is nothing that we can't do, I am sure!  I look forward to seeing you all at the 4th of July parade? - and other events that we will have.  Until then, wishing you all a safe and wonderful summer!

Fashion, Food and French Frivolity

Hello ladies,

The time has arrived!  Starting June 24th you can purchase your Fashion Show tickets along with your raffle tickets.  After our over-the-top fabulous show last year, we are expecting this event to sell out quickly; so purchase your tickets early and be sure to invite a friend!

Fashion, Food and French Frivolity

You are cordially invited to:

spend a lovely afternoon gazing at our quintessential French Markets as you stroll through the fragrant marche aux fleur, linger over the lovely desserts in our pâtisserie, break off pieces of baguettes in our boulangerie as you sample cheese in the marche aux fromage. You will linger as you gaze at the gorgeous raffle baskets, silent auction items and make a purchase at our wine wall. We have secured Mela, a lovely shoe and apparel boutique located in Lake Oswego Village to put on our fabulous fashion show that will satisfy all our fashionistas. Sephora will provide a lovely gift bag this year filled with items. So come and enjoy conversational bouquets with old and new friends, help raise funds for our charities and enjoy Paris for a few hours as you indulge in a bit of French flânerie.

Membership Update

It is a bitter sweet period for me as I carefully find myself in a new journey with this club. We are temporarily relocating to the San Francisco bay area, but I will continue to remain an active member and assist (just a little) to a group of women who stand for giving back to others, and one another.

It is time to give up my reign after two years as Membership Chair, and my constant screaming “I have the best job ever”, in this club!  Toniya Villalobos and Kelly Heard will both be co-chairing, and they are already planning fun little twists and turns.  I am sure it will be an exciting time for the 2015-2016 Membership.

I am so THANKFUL to so many of you that have worked so diligently in keeping this club moving in a positive direction.  I am even more grateful for the wonderful friendships that I know will continue, even though I am now a part-timer.  Oh yes, I’m not completely gone (yet).  It will be like that big Farewell Tour, from Cher!  This is it,….. no wait, she’s back!

As I step down, there are a few more things left undone.  We are still in need of a Social Chair for next year.  If you are interested, could you please contact me, or Lisa Rainer.  You may even consider co-chairing with someone.  Also, the fabulous Sheri Rathbun will be finishing up her reign as Fashion Show chair, so we will need that position filled this Fall.  If you are interested in filling that position, please contact Sheri (for what FS Chair entails), or myself, or even Lisa Rainer.  I am confident the majority of you have already put the date of Septemer 24th on your calendar!

Lastly, don’t forget that summertime is a great time to get outside, grill and reconnect with friends.  Please keep in mind that it’s also a great time to consider some fabulous women for membership.  You may send those names to either Toniya or Kelly… or have anyone interested in membership inquire/sign up on our webpage.

THANK YOU for all your support these past few years!  You ladies give so much and it is not only appreciated by me and the other members, but those that your time and commitment goes towards.

Membership Chair

Volunteer for Community Clean-up

The LO Community Clean-Up Day is Saturday, June 20, 2015 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm and volunteers are needed!  Those interested should contact Jenny Slepian via email, jslepian@lakeoswego.city or phone, 503-635-0201.

If you can't volunteer, you can still clean out your garage and closets and bring your unwanted items to the Reuse, Recycle and Dispose event at the West End Building parking lot. Please note, drop offs are limited to Lake Oswego residents only. Please bring ID or proof of residency.

Art Council Gallery - Plein Air

The Arts Council of Lake Oswego presents Plein Air: A Chronicle of Lake Oswego, on exhibit at the Lake Oswego Festival of the Arts.

The gallery is open Friday, June 20th – Sunday, June 22nd. Hours for the Festival of the Arts are Friday and Saturday 10 a.m. – 9 p.m., and Sunday 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.

Plein Air: A Chronicle of Lake Oswego, is located street level, in the main building of the Lakewood Center for the Arts, 368 S. State Street.

Don’t miss this visually stunning exhibition, featuring work by some of the finest plein-air artists in the nation.  You may even know a few of them as one of them is our very own LOWC member, Pam Helling and one of her friends, Nathalie Actuell. The majority of the work on exhibit and for sale was created during a four-day “paint out”, held in locations throughout Lake Oswego in May of 2014.  Click on Arts Council for more information on this event.
