General Meeting

Our next general meeting is on Thursday, January 15th at 6:30 pm at Clackamas Women's Services. Their address is 256 Warner Milne Road, Oregon City, OR 97045.  Be sure to support our charity and join us at the first general meeting in 2015!

Service Opportunity

We have two opportunities to give service to the families residing at The Ronald McDonald House (East - near Legacy Emanuel).

There is nothing like having a home cooked meal prepared for you, after spending hours with your sick child at the hospital.  If any members are interested in cooking brunch for these families, contact: DeLoris Scherschligt

The two dates available are: Sunday, January 25th and Sunday, February 22nd, so please send your date of interest.  The start time is 9 am and we should be completed by noon.  We are limited to 6 members in the kitchen (per date).

LO Reads Community Dessert - We need You!

Lake Oswego Public Library has made its 2015 book selection – All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr.

LOWC is once again supporting the LO Reads program by sponsoring the community-wide dessert on February 11, 2015. Mr. Doerr will speak that evening, after community members have enjoyed desserts and coffee, hosted and supplied by LOWC.

Members are asked to sign up for the organizational committee and to help host that evening. Please email Garlinn Story so that you can be a part of this effort. Thank you!

Holiday Party!

We had the annual LOWC holiday party this past Saturday, December 13th.  We had 33 people registered to come.
We enjoyed the deliciously catered food. The caterer did a great job and included additional items that were not on the menu.  I should have taken more pictures, her display of the hot food and desserts was amazing.

Special thanks to Kelly and her husband, Glenn, for providing an awesome venue and welcoming the members and significant others into their home. The house looked beautiful with all the wonderful decorations!  They also provided the beer, which was a big hit with the men!

A big thank you to DeLoris for always making the parties memorable.  She headed up the white elephant gift exchange, made the cute wreath nametags, the extra white elephant gifts, the holly trees, bringing lots of wine and the yummy champagne punch that was such a big hit.  We had a prize for a men's drawing and women's drawing.  Garlinn won a scone pan and scone mix and Taylor (Jessica's husband) won the bar set (thanks Chris for donating).  Thanks to Sheri as well who nicely re-packaged the extra Sur La Table holiday ornaments left over from the Fashion Show.  Specials thanks to the Social committee for planning this wonderful event and to all those that helped make this a fun and easy way to enjoy the holidays!

The next social event is a Happy hour at Manzana on January 21st and after that is an intriguing murder mystery on Valentine's Day, February 14th.  Mark your calendars and save the date.  We will have more information after the holidays.

Happy holidays to you and yours.  Best wishes for a wonderful 2015!

Steady Progress by Lake Run

Steady progress is being made in preparation for a successful 2015 Lake Run.  We are in the details of application/permits, that are required to operate the event.

Sponsorship is edging forward with nine thousand five hundred dollars ($9,500) received.  If you know anyone who would like to sponsor the Lake Run for 2015, please contact Glen Brivic.

Take a look at the updated Web pages located on LOWC home page supporting the 2015 Run!

Registration is scheduled to begin in January.

More to come......

Twas the night before Christmas

Twas the night before Christmas when all through the town
our members were dreaming of wearing a new gown.
The dresses were hung in the closets with care,
With thoughts of our fashion show swirling in the air.
LOWC ladies were nestled in their home
When out to lawn their eyes did roam.
They went outside upon hearing such a clatter,
where wearing a pashmina really did matter.
When what from their wondering eyes did appear
but a fluffy white sleigh with beautifully dressed reindeer.
Sheri whistled and smiled and called them by name,
now Scottie, Toniya, Ann, Denise and Pauline
Minita, Crista, Annie and Kelly all completing the team.
The sleigh was packed full of raffle baskets and fashion
All powered by our club's deep sense of compassion.
Now dash away dash away dash away all,
to our annual fashion show happening next fall.
So away we all go with hearts full cheer
thanking all of of you for a wonderful year!
