A Note from Philanthropy

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday, I certainly did!  The Philanthropy Committee is getting ready to start the grant process, and we need your help.  If you have any suggestions for a small charity organization (think Angels in the Outfield), please email Amanda Quinn by January 31.

LO Reads Community Dessert - We need You!

Lake Oswego Public Library has made its 2015 book selection – All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr.

LOWC is once again supporting the LO Reads program by sponsoring the community-wide dessert on February 11, 2015. Mr. Doerr will speak that evening, after community members have enjoyed desserts and coffee, hosted and supplied by LOWC.

Members are asked to sign up for the organizational committee and to help host that evening. Please email Garlinn Story so that you can be a part of this effort. Thank you!

Murder Mystery - Masquerade

You should have received an invitation, via Evite, for the Murder Mystery on Valentine's Day, February 14th.  If not, please contact Minita Feldsien.

Everyone that attends must play a part in the murder mystery.  Get all dressed up in your black tie attire and masquerade mask and come ready to play your character.  At the end of our fun night, we will find out whodunnit and discover the killer amongst us.

Thank you Amanda and Bryan Quinn for facilitating this event and to Toniya Villalobos and Larry Kitchen for letting us have it at your house.

We hope you all can join us!

Be on the board next year!

Knowing that our year is nearly half over based upon our new board engaging this summer, now is the time we begin our process of building an extremely strong Board of Director’s for 2015-2016.

We are looking for dedicated Board members who believe in our mission and are willing to be active in their governance over their assigned roles.  If you would like to submit your name for being on this year’s Nominating Committee, please send an email to DeLoris Scherschligt.  The process of building next year’s Board will soon begin.

15 Fashion Trends for 2015

Fashion Week in New York, Milan, London and Paris have given us accurate predictors of what we’ll be wearing in the Spring of 2015. I thought you might enjoy reading about the top 15 trends while you anxiously await for our fashion show in 2015 and our theme announcement!
1.  Culottes~ the wide leg cropped pant
2.  Color Blocking~ a bold use of contrasting colors
3. Rows of  Ruffles~ layers upon layers of ruffles (my personal favorite)

    4. Gingham (left)~ Preppies rejoice with the playful geometric prints in dresses and stylish twin-sets. Think picnic plaids.

    5.  Ribbon Belts (right)~ think stylish Judo closures with bows

    6.  Fringe~ a boho trend resurfaces

    7. All white~ monochrome looks with their own feminine little twists using lots of lace

    8. Seventies (right)~ say it isn’t so... the hippie motifs meet the modern accents and harmonize. Think flared trousers and jumpsuits.

    9.  Bold Florals (left)~ we are talking really large florals

    10. Gladiator sandals

    11.  All Things Sheer (right)~ showing skin through sheer panel

    12. Dark denim

    13.  Black and white or blue and white (left)

    14. Scalloped edges (right)

    15. Marsala is the pantone color of 2015

~according to Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director, Pantone Color Institute, “Marsala is a subtly seductive shade, one that draws us in to its embracing warmth and it makes for an elegant, grounded statement color

    Portland Art Museum

I also wanted to share an article about a fashion event coming to our Portland Art Museum in February. Portland will be the only West Coast Venue. I will be there for sure for some inspiration for our fashion show.

    February 7 – May 3, 2015 Portland Art Museum
This major exhibition will be a glamorous, comprehensive look at Italian Fashion from the end of the Second World War to the present day. Italian Style includes more than 100 ensembles and accessories by leading Italian fashion houses, including Pucci, Valentino, Gucci, Missoni, Giorgio Armani, Dolce & Gabbana, Fendi, Prada, and Versace. The exhibition is organized by the Victoria and Albert Museum, in London.
Wishing all of you a very fashionable New Year!
