Highlights from the President
- All of our committees have their assigned members and have started to hold meetings - we're off and running at full steam now. Looking forward to the great things we will do this year.
- The board participated in a half day board retreat in October. It was an amazing experience and will help us to work together throughout the year. Among the many things we discussed, we began to craft a new mission statement. I am pleased to announce that we finalized the wording and approved it at the November Board meeting. Read the new statement and details about the retreat below. Please be proud to share this mission with anyone who asks about it. It will work it's way into our printed publications and public information as they are updated.
-We welcome our newest board member, Joan Hutchinson, who has taken on the role of Public Relations Chair. We are so happy to have her on the board.

- We sponsored a new community involvement event, "Because She Cares", in conjunction with the Arts Council of Lake Oswego - a delightful exhibit of portrait art honoring 24 women that lead non-profit organizations here in Oregon. A big thank you to Denise Smith for coordinating this partnership and speaking at the event! Also you can read more information about the exhibit here: http://www.becauseshecares.org.
Wishing you all a blessed and joyful Thanksgiving!

LOWC Board Retreat Recap
In October the Board held a retreat at the Spiritual Living Center in Lake Oswego. A full-packed agenda was tackled under the able facilitation of sustainer, Virginia Rubin. The objectives of the retreat were:
- Get to know one another and learn about each other’s learning, interaction and decision-making preferences
- Agree on how we’ll work together as a team
- Revisit the Mission Statement
- Identify major issues that will impact what/how we deliver this year
- Develop a first draft of a work plan
It was a very successful day and the Board is united and excited about working on a vision for the Club that will result in increased membership, retention of members and meaningful connections for members within the Club, our community and charitable partners.
An unexpected result of the meeting was the Board’s agreement on a new mission statement for LOWC:
Women joining together to enrich lives in our community.
It is hoped that this new mission statement will be easy for members to remember, recite and connect to their work for the Club. Thanks again to Virginia for managing the agenda in such an artful way!!!

Calm Colors for 2015
The fashion show for 2014 may be over but fashion frivolity continues. LOWC's fabulous fashion committee is already in the planning stages for 2015. We do not have a theme yet, as we are waiting to hear from all of you as to what you might recommend. Just email Sheri Rathbun with your sensational suggestions. If we select your theme, you will get a fashion prize. The theme will be announced at our Holiday Party on December 13th!
In the meantime, I thought you might like to have a glimpse into the new colors for 2015. Cooler, softer neutral colors are taking center stage as designers "draw from daydreams of simpler times". It appears that since we are all so connected 24/7, there is a desire to "create ‘quiet zones’ to disconnect from technology and unwind, giving ourselves time to stop and be still". Enjoy the color palette.

Provisional Crafting

A few Provisionals along with two board members met up to meet one another and spend the morning crafting over the weekend, making darling little felt Santas. There was lots of laughter and getting to know one another.
