Participation and Attendance
So, did anyone miss me in the last blog? Even if you didn't, you are missed when you are absent from a meeting - and you are missing a great opportunity to get to know your fellow members and have fun, when you are absent from our social events. At this time of year, we have so much to do - be thankful for our many blessings, get ready for family gatherings, perhaps prepare to travel, and keep up with all our other tasks and activities. Please don't let LOWC fall off your list of things to attend. We need you, we miss you and I promise you will get something from participating!
I sincerely hope that all will attend the annual potluck brunch general meeting on Thursday, November 21st (details below), and our Holiday Party (it was really wonderful last year), Saturday, December 7th, and we also have an upcoming Happy Hour on the 11th of December. We do notice when you attend - and it is one of the many things that I am thankful for this year. Wishing you all a wonderful Thanksgiving… and hoping to see you before then!

Be sure to attend the November Potluck Brunch when the winner of the diamond earrings is announced. Someone is sure to have a very happy holiday!

Driving directions from Annie Arkebauer:
Take the first light to the left on State Street (across from the park or coming the other way, turn right just past the Starbucks complex). The big sign is about the Apts......Do not go straight! Take the left so you are going parallel to State Street, heading toward A street. Go right past the power station to the stop sign and turn right onto Foothills Drive. Shortly down the hill, you will go left and then a quick left into the parking lot in front of the Oswego Pointe Sign at our clubhouse. The room we are in is called "Riverside Room". I will have a sign and the door will be open.
See you there!

Lake Run Update
The Lake Run Committee met on Tuesday, November 12th to begin the planning of the 38th Annual Lake Run. The Lake Run is returning to the lake with a new 12K course and a revised 5K course. Runners will be afforded lake views on their journey around the lake with a few less hills to climb. Sponsorships are coming in, but if you have a business or know of one that would be interested in sponsoring the Lake Run, please contact Toniya Villalobos at sponsorship@lowomensclub.org.
Feeling left out because you aren't on the committee? Volunteer now for the May 10 Lake Run! A packet party will be planned to stuff runner packets for the race. Contact Kris Coder at volunteer@lowomensclub.org. Other volunteer opportunities are also available. May 3, 2014 will be Neighborhood Notice Day. Teams of volunteers will go walk the neighborhoods and businesses on the race course to leave notices about the event. Get your name on the list now! If you have a volunteer position that has become dear to you, let us know. We will make sure you are working your favorite spot on May 10th!
NEEDED! The 38th Annual Lake Run is looking for someone with an announcers voice to call out the names of runners at the finish line of the Lake Run. This will be a volunteer position. If you know of anyone that has that perfect voice, please let us know at lakerun@lowomensclub.org.

Could you share your favorite recipe?
My new easy favorite recipe is:
FUNDIDO CON CHORIZOPut a bit of oil in a pan.Add chopped onions, until they are soft.Mix in 10 ounces of Mexican chorizo until cooked, set aside. In an oven proof dish, place 5-6 ounces of diced cheese (use whatever cheese you like & that melts well). I like queso fresco (Mexican mozzarella type cheese).Top with half of chorizo mixture, add another layer of cheese & finish with chorizo.Place it in a hot oven (425˚F) until you see browned cheesy goodness.Serve with chips, pita or whatever. It's just easy & yummy! This is sweet and simple. Thought about changing it (thanks Gaby for raising the bar last time), but have decided to leave it as an inspiration to others.
Thanks Toniya for letting us get to know you!
