Off and Running
With the Fashion Show under our belt (remember that the drawing for the exquisite diamond earrings is still open until the November General meeting), the provisionals and returning members assigned to the various committees and our charities for the 2013-2014 year announced, we are definitely underway. Now is the time that we form our teams and make our plans - for our general meetings, for the Holiday Party, for the happy hours and book club meetings, and for our 38th Lake Run - Return to the Lake. I sincerely hope that everyone will participate as much as possible - it will only enhance your club experience and I guarantee that you will get to know some really fantastic women.
Participation for active members only requires attendance at 4 meetings, but you will miss out on so much and so many new friends if you don't participate at least that much and hopefully more - including coming to some of the social events. I highly recommend the Holiday Party - you can bring a spouse or a friend - and have a lovely evening. I look forward to seeing you all at our gatherings and hope to get know you all better.
Let's start with the potluck general meeting in November!
Blessings to all and see you then!

There were delicious homemade dishes that included shredded carnitas, chicken enchiladas, homemade refried beans, layered bean dip and much more. Even the gentlemen that came to escort their wives had a great time. The ambiance of the lake was the perfect setting. A huge thanks goes to this year's Sustainers Liaison Lauren Retzlaff, for a well orchestrated event. The picture on the right includes past presidents in attendance.

Clackamas Women Services Luncheon
We are invited...Clackamas Womens Services is hosting a luncheon from 11:30-1:00 p.m. on November 13th to celebrate and update the community and their partners about the opening of the new Family Justice Center called "A Safe Place".
As one of our three selected charities, Clackamas Womens Services has invited us to attend and to support their event with an eight (8) person table. This is free to attendees and will give us a wonderful opportunity to learn more about the upcoming opening of the Family Justice Center and how those victims of sexual abuse, domestic violence and elder abuse will find safety and services they need - all under one roof. Although this is a free event, Clackamas Women's Services encourages the guests to become partners for the Family Justice Center by generously supporting them with your donations.
Please contact Garlinn Story at philanthropy@lowomensclub.org if you are interested in being one of the eight (8) LOWC representatives. What a great way for us to further develop our new partnership with Clackamas Womens Services.

Nov. 21 Deadline to Order LOWC apparel
In an effort to brand ourselves as proud LOWC members in the community---for our work parties and major fundraising events such Lake Run----we are taking orders to have any article of white clothing you want emblazoned with our LOWC logo! That's right, you supply your favorite white short-sleeved or long-sleeved shirt or vest or jacket----as long as it's pure white (no colored stripes or ribbing...just plain white)----and DeLoris Scherschligt, membership chair, will take your apparel to be embroidered, at $10 per each item (this is the cost of the workmanship; there is no profit for DeLoris or the organization).
Because you get to select your own clothing/style, you get to determine how much or how little to spend! From Target to Nike to LuLuLemon to Ross or Walmart, from jackets to shirts to caps, etc., as long as it's white and you want to wear it, DeLoris can coordinate getting our logo embroidered on it.
There is no obligation to participate, but if you do, here are the schedule/instructions:
- Submit clothing item(s) along with $10 cash or check (made payable to LOWC) to DeLoris at the November 21 Potluck General Meeting.
- Also, for each item of clothing, write your name on a piece of paper and pin it to the hem or sleeve. This step is important to successfully redistribute the items.
- No item will be processed without your name pinned directly to the article of clothing.
- No item will be processed without payment by the November 21 deadline.
- If you can't attend the November 21 meeting, please deliver your clothing, pinned name, and payment to DeLoris before the November 21 meeting. Alternatively, ask a friend who is able to attend the meeting, to deliver your clothing (and nametag and payment) for you.
- All items will be complete and re-distributed at the December 7 Holiday Party.

Kudos
Kudos to Lori Malone - her incredible effort over the last few months, especially, have permitted this club to function. Without what she does as Communication Technology Chair, we could not exist. She is the glue that binds us and she maintains the backbone of this organization. Many thanks and heartfelt gratitude!LOWC has a New Blog Editor!
As a reminder, the blog is published twice monthly with articles due on the 15th and 30th of each month. LOWC Board members are responsible for submitting articles to Minita to keep all members up-to-date on the activities of each committee. It's Minita's job to assemble the articles, gather photos, and make sure the blog looks "presentable" for our readership. If you'd like more details about our blogging policies, please review this document.
As the "ex-blogger" I still have access to administrative rights on the blog, so I am sneaking this article in at the last minute as a surprise to express my sincere appreciation to Minita for her work! Please feel free to drop Minita a note at blogger@lowomensclub.org to let her know you appreciate her willingness to step up to such an important job during her provisional year. Thank you, Minita!
