Meet the 2013-2014 LOWC President at the June General Meeting
Hello LOWC Members,
We've ended the activities of our 2012-2013 year and we are already turning our attention to next year. Our June general meeting is set for June 20, 2013 at Millenium Park. Since I was a sustainer last year, many of you might not know me so I'd like to take this occasion to invite you to come meet me and our new board; the location is lovely and we have a great speaker, too. Our summer activities are also gearing up - the first friend raiser will be Friday July 12, 2013 - so mark your calendars and consider whom you might invite to this event! More details about the friend raiser will be coming shortly from our Membership committee. And please, if you haven't already, specify what your committee assignment preferences for next year are - send an email to operationscommittee@lowomensclub.org. Soon the warm summer sun will be here and we will be off and running to our next year!
Hope to see you all soon!

2013 Lake Run
Ladies, THANK YOU!
Thank you for pulling together and supporting the 37th annual Lake Run this year. We appreciate you honoring your LOWC responsibilities to work the event and we thank the Lake Run Committee for their hard work! We couldn't have done it without you!
This year's event was bittersweet for the club. We had a beautiful day, a great sponsorship turn-out and great participant turn-out, but we also heard from participants about many things that should have been better. We have been keeping track of all of the comments, both positive and negative and will be using the lists as a tool to plan next year's event. We are wanting next year's event to be the biggest and best ever, so if you haven't decided on a committee for next year yet, consider putting your energy and ideas into the 2014 Lake Run. Sponsorship and PR will be key factors to next year's event as well!
If you, or anyone you've talked to has feedback from the Lake Run, please don't hesitate to forward those comments to me at LakeRunGroup@lowomensclub.org

Philanthropy 2012-2013
It's a Wrap!!We're coming to the end of our LOWC year and the Philanthropy Committee is wrapping up all business for 2012-13.
Many thanks to the members of the committee who made it all happen.
Garlinn Story and Amanda Quinn
A huge thank you for running the entire Scholarship process from start to finish. Garlinn and Amanda successfully drove the application process, the scholarship interview panels, the final selection of winners and the presentation of awards at school assemblies. The result is that LO Women's Club will be awarding 5 scholarships to very deserving students in the next 2 weeks. Great job Amanda and Garlinn!
Joan Hutchinson
Joan took on the task of getting speakers for most of our General Meetings this year. We had speakers from Good Deeds, Tualatin Schoolhouse Pantry, Divine Threads, Donors Resource. If you enjoyed one or all of these speakers , please send your thanks to Joan. She single-handedly arranged for the speakers and all with no fuss, no muss. Joan, you rock!
Zie Zie Senzaki wrote articles for the blog and identified opportunities for work parties.
Sandi Traynor made site visits to non-profits that applied for grants this year and contributed to the decision-making that resulted in the committee's grant recommendations.
Thank you also to Lori Faris, Denise Smith, and Lauren Retzlaff who made site visits and gave us moral support and guidance along the way.
All of the non-profits that applied for grants this year are solid organizations doing important work in our communities. We're now awaiting the financial results of the Lake Run to determine how LOWC will distribute grants.
Thanks again Sandi, Zie Zie, Joan, Amanda and Garlinn. It was great working with all
of you this year.
All the best to Garlinn Story who will be taking over as Chair of the Philanthropy Committee for the coming year.

Jeri Parrott - 2013-2014 Directory
Johanna McCormick, former Directory Chair, wishes to introduce the membership to their new Directory Producer Jeri Parrot. I know Jeri will be fantastic---and very organized. We can all help her out----and the new President---by submitting our Committee preferences soon (thank you to those who have already done so!) and checking your online profile to ensure your contact information is up to date. That little book takes a lot more up-front planning than you might imagine!
And if you are heading up any aspect of the club that deals with schedules or any other portion of the Directory's "front pages," be on the lookout for Jeri to connect with you this summer regarding deadlines.
Thank you, Jeri, for stepping into this new role. I look forward to working with you throughout the transition!
