President's Letter
Hope your summer is going well and you all are getting refreshed and charged up for the next year. We have so much going on already: The Fashion Show committee is hard at work to make that a wonderful and successful event; the Lake Run committee has a Chair - Glen Brivic and along with the board has begin planning for what we hope to be the BEST Lake Run EVER! Our Membership Chair, DeLoris orchestrated our first FriendRaiser and we have some new provisionals already; the Social committee has already started plans for the Holiday party! And speaking of committees, fill out our Skills and Interest Inventory - where you will have the chance to state your top three choices for committee assignment! For those that have answered the email request already - please participate in the inventory as well as there is additional information requested. In the mean time, enjoy the lovely July weather and I hope to see you all at the August General Meeting. (Details to come from our Meeting Chair.)Chris Bonney

August General Meeting
Thursday, August 15, 20137:00 pm social 7:30 pm meeting
Location to be determined (Hostess needed!)
Our August 15 meeting is more casual, laid back…you know; the lazy, hazy days of summer.
We are seeking a hostess for the Thursday August 15th evening meeting. Do you have backyard or garden that just screams “Let’s entertain!” Wine, beverages, and appetizers will be provided by the club so it’s easy on the hostess. If this is something that you are interested in, please contact Julie at the email below.

September General Meeting
AKA Fashion Show
Rhonda Webber and her committee are working hard in preparation of our September Fashion Show luncheon; by far our highest attended meeting, for sure our tastiest and most stylish! So be sure to plan ahead and put September 26 on your calendar. Details below.Fashion Show - September 26
Let’s all strike a pose and mark our calendars now for the 13th Annual LOWC Fashion Show/Luncheon and Raffle at the beautiful Oswego Lake Country Club Thursday, September 26th from 11:30am-2:00pm. This year’s event is being held a week later than in past years to avoid conflicts with college orientation schedules. Watch for the invites in the mail next month and reserve your spot! Tickets will be $35 when purchased in advance and $40 at the door.
We need your help with items for the raffle baskets since this event is a fundraiser for our wonderful charities, so the more items we can gather the better! You will be receiving emails with a procurement letter and tax form for potential donors. We need products, gift certificates or even personal donations that we can organize into our beautiful baskets. Please have all donations to Scottie Johnson no later than Sept 16th so she has time to organize them. You can reach Scottie via email at lynn3831@comcast.net or by phone at 503-656-3117.
Thanks for your help and see you all soon!

Let us know and we will let the rest of the club know that we appreciate their hard work!Kudos and a big thank you to Lisa Ranier for her extreme efforts to get medals and t-shirts to all the Lake Run participants!
Membership is Marvelous
Membership is off and running! A big thank you to Becky and Dave Nicoli for opening up their home on the lake, to host our first friendraiser on July 12th. An additional thank you to all the members that showed up with wine and appetizers, and shared their insight on our organization. The evening was a success, along with the edible hibiscus flowers in champagne. There were 9 interested women in attendance, which resulted in 3 of them joining that evening, and an additional 2 verbally committing. A huge thank you goes to Lori Malone for setting up for the first time, our application on line with a payment option through PayPal (applause please). This enabled these ladies to sign up immediately. I’d like to extend a huge welcome and introduce Sheri Rathbun, Tina Tena and Toniya Villalobos to the Women’s Club.
Our next friendraiser will be held in August. When the date is finalized, it will be published on our website event page. In addition, an evite will be sent out to the membership, so keep an eye out for it. As a reminder, if you know of anyone that would be a great candidate for our organization, or is interested, please send their name to membership@lowomensclub.org so they may be added to the list of invitees to our next friendraiser.

Vice President's Voice
Hello Everyone!
I hope everyone is having a wonderful summer. I can't complain about our Pacific Northwest weather we're having--it's gorgeous!
As the new Vice President, I am going to continue working on the Bylaws Committee. We are presently working with a pro bono attorney in downtown Portland to more clearly define our Bylaws and among other things, bring them current with newer technology. Our last Bylaws revision was in the year 2000 and did not include mention of our website or emails.
In addition, as a 501(c)(3) non-profit group we are bound by Federal and State laws. It's important that We ALL know what those guidelines are. It will better serve all of us in making future plans and keeping us in compliance with those laws at the same time. I plan to either talk at board and general meetings or blog an article each month to focus on different aspects of our bylaws.
My most important job as Vice President is supporting our President, Chris. I am looking forward to filling in where needed.
Finally, I'd like to share a favorite summer beverage of mine. With fresh blueberries available right now, this is a must try.
Robin's Blueberry Margaritas
3 cups of ice
1/3 cup tequila
2 cups fresh or frozen blueberries
1 (6oz) can frozen limeade concentrate
1/4 cup powdered sugar
1/4 cup orange liqueur (Contreau)
Fresh oranges or limes, cut into wedges
Blue or purple decorator sugar crystals (or granulated sugar)
Rub rims of margarita glasses with orange or lime wedge. Dip rims in sugar crystals to coat.
Process ice, tequila, blueberries, limeade, powdered sugar, and orange liqueur. Serve in prepared glasses.
ENJOY!!

Lake Run Update and Work Party
We have been working steadily to bring this year's Lake Run to a smooth conclusion. Most of the additional medals that were ordered have been delivered or mailed and we have put about 1/3 of the t-shirts (also additionally ordered) in the mail to the Day-Of-Race participants that were promised shirts. BUT, there is still more to do!
We will be having a work party Monday evening July 29th at 7:30pm at Lisa Rainer's home (13479 Fielding Rd, LO) to continue prepping shirts to be mailed. There is no need to rsvp. Please just show up if you are available to give an hour or two of your time. If you have any questions, please contact Lisa at 503-635-3780.
Lisa Rainer
