President's Letter
Hi All,November is a great month to socialize with the LOWC!
The social committee will be hosting our first LOWC happy hour, it is always a fun casual way to meet members, come with a friend or go alone, you will enjoy it – promise! Look in your directory or our web site for times and locations.
Jeanne Kistner, a sustaining member, will be opening her beautiful home for our November 15, pot luck/general meeting. Please take a moment to tell Jeanne thank you for hosting this annual LOWC tradition, we do not take her kindness for granted. The pot luck will be explained further as you read the blog, just know you will enjoy a relaxing meeting and the pot luck offers a variety of food selections to please every palate. Be warned, this meeting is always well attended and parking is limited, so car pool to avoid parking challenges.
I hope that all of you have had your first committee meeting by now. Are you happy with your selection or have any concerns? Being active on one of our committees is how each member is able to contribute and best express their connection to the workings of the LOWC. No one committee is more important than another, we are all a part of the same body and we all enjoy the same goal.
Our Holiday Party, will be Thursday, December 13, please save the date! We invite you to bring a friend or your spouse. More details are listed in this blog addition. There will not be a meeting - this is a party!
As I expressed earlier, we like to socialize and November is a great time to start.
I hope you enjoy the days ahead,
Denise Smith
LOWC 2012-13 President

General Meeting/Potluck 9:30 AM
November 15 at Jeanne Kistner’s Home
The November 15 General Meeting will be held at Jeanne Kistner’s home. Jeanne is a LOWC sustainer and has graciously hosted the potluck meeting at her lovely home on the Willamette River the past several years. In addition to the meeting, we will be selling raffle tickets for some great prizes and have sign ups for party boards. We are hoping to see many provisional, active and sustaining members attend. Please join us at 9:30 AM for the social and potluck brunch followed by the meeting at 10:00 AM. Please visit our online directory or consult your hard-copy directory for Jeanne's address.
Not sure what to bring for the potluck? Please follow the suggestion below.
- If your last name begins with A-F please bring a protein dish (such as egg, cheese, meat, etc)
- If your last name begins with G-L please bring a bakery or pastry item. (such as muffins, bread, etc)
- If your last name begins with M-S please bring a salad (such as fruit, pasta, etc)
- If your last name begins with a T-Z please bring a dessert.
Our featured speaker for the meeting will be Greg Pace from Good Deeds.
Good Deeds is a Lake Oswego based organization that provides support to families who are dealing with medical circumstances and who are unsupported by other organizations. They fill a niche in our community ensuring that while families focus on caring for the person with a medical condition, the family's needs are also met. These needs may be financial as medical bills add up or parents are unable to work; or these needs may be for goods and service to save the family time. Each situation is unique and each Good Deed is done on an individual basis. With the Holiday Season starting, LOWC could best support Good Deeds immediately with donations directed at their Holiday Giving efforts - gifts and food. Specifically non-perishable food times and small gifts for children would be appreciated, in addition LOWC will use cash donations contributed at the meeting to purchase a Fred Myers gift card. You can read more about Good Deeds at www.gooddeeds.org.

Directory Corrections and Distribution Update
Please correct your hard-copy Directories to reflect the following two errors on page 9, within the Lake Run committee member staff list:
- Maureen Dunham should be designated as a Provisional member, with an asterisk.
- Provisional member Glenn Brivic’s name was omitted from the Lake Run staff list.
Both members are correctly listed in the Membership Profile section of the book, including their membership level and assignment to the Lake Run committee. The Directory Chair apologizes for the errors on page 9.
Additionally, thank you to the committee chairs and their surrogates who are helping distribute the remaining Directories to those who were unable to attend the October 18 General Meeting. If you are an Active member without a hard-copy Directory yet, please contact your committee chair. If you are a Sustaining member who has not yet received your Directory through the mail, please contact the Directory Chair.
If you find errors in the hard-copy Directory, notify Johanna McCormick at directory@lowomensclub.org. However, if you have updates to your membership profile information (such as a new photo, change of address or phone number, etc.), you may log-in to our website at your convenience (24/7) to make those changes yourself (www.lowomensclub.org).
