President's Report

The Lake Run is almost here! This will be our last major fund-raiser for the 2011-2012 year, so we need all of your help to make it a huge success! I want to give a special shout out to those of you who stepped in at the last minute to help with sponsorship (for fear of forgetting someone, I don't want to run down the names, but you know who you are). We owe you a huge debt and I cannot thank you enough. Remember that every active and provisional member is required to work a shift – go onto ClubRunner and sign up ASAP. All friends and family are welcome to volunteer as long as they are over 18 years old (younger kids are allowed to be there, but don't count as a volunteer due to legal constraints).

We have been working hard at filling the slate of officers for the 2012-2013 year. I want to extend a special “Thank You” to Macey Lempert, Lisa Rainer, Virginia Rubin, and Chandra Terry for helping me come up with what I think will be a fabulous board. (Look for important announcements soon...) While we have most positions filled, if you would like to be a part of the board, please let me know ASAP at smirarchi@yahoo.com This is your club, and I would love to see each and every one of you serve on the board at some point – it is truly a fabulous opportunity!

Before we transition to next year's board, we will be sending out one more survey about the direction you want the Club to take - look for this in your in-box soon. I would REALLY appreciate if all of you could take just a couple of minutes to fill out the survey so that the up-coming board can make the Club something that all of you will want to be involved with. Your input is vital to this process, so please help us to help you!

All the best,
Sharon Mirarchi

Lake Run 2012 – Take the Lake

The race is on!  And this year we’ve added a fun new event – the Packet Pickup Party.  In conjunction with Blast Burger, we will have food and adult beverages available from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Friday May 11th, the evening before the race.  Come get your volunteer information and T-Shirts and enjoy the festivities.  We will be in full swing getting ready for the next morning!  If you haven’t signed up for your shift on the course, please do so ASAP – the on course volunteers are a critical part of the Race Safety Team, so necessary to the success of this race.  We literally cannot run the race without you.  And a huge THANK YOU to all who have helped in the eleventh hour with sponsorship!  This race will be a success, but it can only happen with all of you doing a part!  Thanks again and see you at the pre-race and day of the race festivities!

Children's Center

"Child abuse and neglect can negatively impact every part of a child's life and pose immediate safety risks to victims".  The long term affects of child abuse can be impaired brain development, depression, anxiety, suicide attempts and juvenile delinquency and adult criminality.  You can help break the cycle.  The Champions for Children Luncheon is one of the Center's major fundraisers for the year.  There is still room for you if you would like to attend the May 9th luncheon at the Oregon Golf Club from 11:00 to 1:00. Contact Susan Ziegler or Lori Faris if you and a friend would like to be a part of this wonderful event.

CALLING ALL FRIENDS!!!

It is that time of year again! Friend Raiser time...we have had two incredible years of large turnouts at our Friend Raisers and in turn had great Provisional numbers. I for one think a “three-pete” is in order.  The Membership Committee will be announcing the 3 Friend Raising event dates in the next Newsletter but in the meantime it is time for all of us to start seeking out new members for our club. I know I am preaching to the choir when I say that “the club is only what you make it” but it’s true. We are looking for new members that are excited about being a part of their community, women who want to make a difference in others lives all the while making real connections with great women! If you know of anyone who is interested please share their contact information with Macey Lempert at Maceybwg@gmail.com. Keep your eyes peeled for those Friend Raiser dates and I look forward to seeing you all soon!
